4:9Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
4:10Because, it is written: 'He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect You,'For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
4:11and, 'In their hands they will hold You up, lest at any time You dash Your foot against a stone.'"And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
4:12And Jesus responding said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.'"And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
4:13Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him for a season.And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
4:14Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and there His fame went out through all the surrounding region.And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
4:15And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
4:16So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. 4:18"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
4:19to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD."To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
4:20Then He closed the book, and He gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of everyone who was in the synagogue were fixed upon Him.And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
4:21And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your ears."And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
4:22So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
4:23Then He said to them, "You will surely say this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.'"And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
4:24And He said, "Truly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country."And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
4:25But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a huge famine throughout all the land;"But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
4:26but Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow."But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
4:27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian."And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
4:28So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
4:29and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff.And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
4:30But passing through the midst of them He went His way,But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
4:31and went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days.And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
4:32And they were astonished at His doctrine, because His word was with authority.And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
4:33Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he shouted out with a loud voice,And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
4:34saying, "Leave us alone! What have we to do with You, You Jesus of Nazareth? Did you come to destroy us? I know who You are, the Holy One of God!"Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
4:35But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
4:36Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word this is! Because, with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out."And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
4:37And His fame went out into every place in the surrounding region.And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
4:38Now He arose from the synagogue and entered into Simon's house. But Simon's wife's mother was sick with a high fever and they made request of Him concerning her.And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
4:39So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
4:40Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
4:41And demons also came out of many, shouting out and saying, "You are Christ, the Son of God!" And He, rebuking them, did not permit them to speak, because they knew that He was Christ.And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
4:42Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the people sought Him and came to Him and tried to keep Him from leaving them;And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
4:43but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
4:44And He preached in the synagogues of Galilee.And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
4:8And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! Because, it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.'"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
4:7Therefore, if You will worship me, all will be Yours."If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
4:6And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this authority, and their glory; because, this has been delivered to me and I give it to whomever I wish.And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
4:5Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
4:4But Jesus replied to him, saying, "It is written that, 'Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'"And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
4:3And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4:2being tempted forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and when they had ended, afterward He was hungry.Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
4:1Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
