5:9Do not let a widow under sixty years old be taken into the number, and not unless she has been the wife of one man,Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,
5:8But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
5:7And these things give in commands, that they may be blameless.And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
5:6But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
5:5Now she who is truly a widow, and desolate, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
5:4But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; because, this is good and acceptable before God.But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5:3Honor widows who are truly widows.Honour widows that are widows indeed.
5:2older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with all purity.The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
5:1Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brethren,Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
5:10well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
5:19Do not receive an accusation against an older man except from two or three witnesses.Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
5:20Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that others also may have reverence.Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
5:21I command you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with personal favoritism.I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
5:22Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor be a partaker in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
5:23No longer drink only water, but use a little grape juice for your stomach's sake and your frequent weaknesses.Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
5:24Some men's sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow afterwards.Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
5:25Likewise also, the good works of some are clearly manifest beforehand, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
5:11But refuse the younger widows; because, when they have, begun to grow immoral against Christ, they desire to marry,But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
5:12having damnation because they have cast off their first faith.Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
5:13And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
5:14Therefore I desire that the younger women marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
5:15Because, some have already turned aside after Satan.For some are already turned aside after Satan.
5:16If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are truly widows.If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
5:17Let the older men who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
5:18Because, the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
