15:1Then immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the entire council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
15:2Then Pilate asked Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered and said to him, "It is as you say."And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.
15:3And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing.And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
15:4Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they witness against You!"And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
15:5But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled.But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
15:6Now at that feast he would release one prisoner to them, whomever they requested.Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
15:7And there was one named Barabbas, who lay chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion.And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
15:8Then the crowd, shouting loudly, began to ask him to do just as he had always done for them.And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
15:9But Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
15:10Because he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
15:11But the chief priests stirred up the people, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them.But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
15:12Then Pilate answered and said to them again, "What then do you want me to do to Him whom you call the King of the Jews?"And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
15:13So they shouted out again, "Crucify Him!"And they cried out again, Crucify him.
15:14Then Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they shouted out all the more earnestly, "Crucify Him!"Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15:15And so Pilate, wanting to gratify the people, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified.And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
15:16Then the soldiers led Him away into the hall called Praetorium, and they called together the entire garrison.And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
15:17And they clothed Him with purple; and they platted a crown of thorns, put it on His head,And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
15:18and began to salute Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!"And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
15:19Then they struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing their knees, they worshiped Him.And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
15:20And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
15:21Then they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to carry His cross.And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
15:22And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, The Place of a Skull.And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
15:23Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
15:24And when they crucified Him, they divided His clothes, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
15:25Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
15:26And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS.And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
15:27And with Him they also crucified two thieves, one on His right hand and the other on His left.And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
15:28So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And He was numbered with the transgressors."And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
15:29And those who passed by ridiculed Him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You who destroys the temple and builds it in three days,And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
15:30save Yourself, and come down from the cross!"Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
15:31Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself.Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
15:32Let Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
15:33Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the entire land until the ninth hour.And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
15:34And at the ninth hour Jesus shouted out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is translated, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35And when they heard that, some of those who stood by said, "Behold, He is calling for Elijah!"And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
15:36Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, "Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down."And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
15:37And Jesus shouted out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
15:38Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
15:39So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He shouted out like this and gave up the spirit, he said, "Truly this Man was the Son of God!"And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
15:40There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
15:41who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
15:42Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
15:43Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable council member, who also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly to Pilate and sought the body of Jesus.Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counseller, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
15:44Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion to him, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
15:45So when he knew it from the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
15:46Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been cut out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
15:47And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
